Seller Portal
BuildDirect Technologies

Summary
The BuildDirect Seller portal is a place where sellers of heavyweight building materials can upload their products and have access to powerful predictive analytics and forecasting tools. These tools allow sellers to make real-time, data-driven decisions on their products to help optimize their business.
Below is a summarized collection of work completed while I was on this team. All the UI was exclusively designed by me.
Sellers Portal Dashboard
In July 2016, I switched from the e-commerce (Buyers) UX team to the Sellers, Supply Chain Services product design team. I was super excited to join this team as there is a lot of room for growth for both me as a designer and the product its self. As the team was wrapping up current projects, I had a week or so to explore the current state of the product and flag some key areas that need improvement, one being the Seller Dashboard.

Conversion Funnel
As more of the tools get built out, we can surface the tools at a user level. Here, I’ve redesigned the Views page which shows the seller how many people are viewing their products and show Recommended Actions that they can take to get more views (and what these views mean in $).
By focusing the top section on actions and showing the map of where their product views are, we can build trust with the Sellers and give them actionable recommendations to how they can get more product views. A clean colour palette and thoughtful styling of the product table makes the information much more digestible.
Manage Products
The manage products page had basic functionality, but lacked clear purpose and actions. To improve the UX of this page, I first took time to understand what the user painpoints were, and looked at other comparable marketplace sites to gather ideas on how we could approach the redesign.
Design
I came up with two versions of the design and tested them with users, asking them to complete a series of tasks such as finding a specific product, editing the price, adding documentation to all products within a specific collection and more. From the results of these tests, we found that users preferred the ability to see all the products within multiple collections on one single page (Version 2). They also required advanced filtering which was addressed in the filter menu.

Results
Feedback from the BuildDirect Category Managers has been extremely positive. The main feature improvement that was discussed was the ability to copy/paste multiple SKU numbers into the search field which makes their jobs much less tedious, saving time and money.
For external sellers, this website update along with the Product Onboarding update increased the speed of sign up to product launch by 38%. It also showed a significant decrease in Seller Support requests.

Product Pricing Tool
Pricing Tool Feature Goals & Objectives
-
Empower Sellers to manage pricing to optimize their business
-
Provide Sellers insights on how their SKUs are priced in comparison to comparable/competitive SKUs from both BuildDirect’s website and other marketplaces
-
Drive lower priced products on BuildDirect.com (including shipping) than other marketplaces
-
To sell more products on BuildDirect.com
Registration Flow
I took on the challenge of improving the Sellers registration flow. The original flow included a huge form at the very beginning of seller registration, resulting in a poor welcoming experience. My goal is to make the process quick and easy, follow standard usability heuristics and reduce the barrier to entry.
As I began doing a competitive analysis, I decided this would be a good opportunity to unite the BuildDirect marketplace products. Currently, there’s a different login and registration process for Sellers and Buyers (BuildDirect.com) site which creates some confusion when sellers try and login on BuildDirect.com. By bridging the two (and counting) profiles, we become one step closer to a strong community piece.

Final Designs
With multiple workflows and screens, here are a few screens to get an idea how it looks.
I left the company before this work was implemented, so I don't have the results of the improvement.
